Stress
Dr. Cherry teaches on the topic of stress. He states that the most effective methods of dealing with stress are outlined in the Bible. He quoted Philippians 4, verse 4 that says, “Be anxious for nothing.” Prayer is the greatest ability a Christian has to deal with stress. Handling stress is a critical spiritual battle. Stress begins in a person’s spirit realm with fear, worry, and anxiety. God gave us power, love, and a sound mind, but not a spirit of fear. The primary strategy to deal with stress is applying the Word of God to its root cause.
Stress depletes the body’s magnesium levels. It also depletes levels of vitamins B-5 and B-6. When a person is under stress they may become restless and experience increased heart rate and blood pressure due to the effects of the stress related chemicals their body is producing. Magnesium is a very important mineral. It has a calming effect and is necessary to assist every cell in the body to burn energy. Magnesium counters the affects of adrenaline and cortisol, the chemicals secreted in relation to stress.
Chamomile tea has been widely used around the world for its calming effect. The active ingredient in chamomile has now been extracted and isolated for use in a supplement. Chamomile has a calming effect on the gastrointestinal tract, which is affected by stress. Several research journal articles have been written about the useful calming effect of passion flower extract for stress related symptoms. Two key vitamins, B-6 and B-5, pyridoxine and pantothenic acid, are both depleted in stress and must be replaced.
