Basic Health, Part 2

Dr. Cherry continues the teaching series on basic nutritional supplements. He stated the American Heart Association, and doctors in general, have come to the conclusion that there are three natural things people need to do for their health: exercise, nutrition, and supplements. A good broad-spectrum supplement can take care of most needs. No one is able to eat all of the different foods each day that it takes to maintain proper nutrition. For example, resveratrol is an anti-fungal compound found in grapes that attaches to receptors on cancer cells that may have formed in your body and destroys them. No one can continuously eat grapes, but God has given us a way to put resveratrol into supplement form to offer protection for our health. Dr. Cherry reminds the viewers that it is with our bodies that we go into all the world and do what God has called us to do, so it is important to keep our body’s healthy

Dr. Cherry states it is not adequate to just take a daily multi-vitamin. It is essential that minerals are included in a daily supplement. One important mineral that should be taken as a daily supplement is magnesium. It helps relax blood vessels and as a result will lower blood pressure. Zinc is one of the most important ingredients for the immune system. Phosphatidylserine helps support brain function and keep the brain strong.

God has provided the ability to extract complexes from fruits and greens that can be placed in supplement form.  When these supplements are taken on a daily basis a constant level of the protection they offer is maintained in the blood stream. Papaya extract helps with digestion. Lycopene helps protects men from prostate cancer and helps protect women from breast cancer.

Lack of energy is a major complaint of many Americans. A good balanced supplement should contain the ingredient CoQ10, an enzyme that is found in all cells of the body. Statin drugs used to lower cholesterol and diuretics will both lower the levels of CoQ10.  CoQ10 helps strengthen heart contractions and prevent congestive heart failure.
